About the Artist

Nikusha Beatty’s art background goes back three generations, beginning with her great grandmother. Nikusha’s grandfather was a famous Russian children’s book illustrator and her grandmother was a Russian muralist, and Nikusha’s mother and father are owners of Prima Materia Institute.

Nikusha is a certified teacher at Prima Materia Institute, teaching introductory art classes; she is the first teacher that most new students make their first steps in art with. She takes them to the next level in her Essential Drawing Course for Beginners. Nikusha conducts weekly art classes for artists of all levels, where she introduces the styles of famous artists and provides step-by-step instruction with live demonstrations.

Nikusha received her teaching credentials in 2017 at Prima Materia Teacher Training, which she joined after graduating from the College Portfolio Program in 2015. In her 7-year experience teaching beginners, she has helped several hundred individuals understand the fundamental concepts of drawing, painting, and Color Theory, and transition to more advanced classes. Outside the studio, Nikusha works with elementary schools PTA, conducting special after-school painting workshops, as well as private classes for adults, gifted children, and those with special needs.

As a fine artist, Nikusha is developing her own body of work for professional gallery representation.
